Dear ACM Members,

It is with a sense of honor and delight that I greet you all as your Board Chairman! Thank you for voting for our new board members at our last AGM and entrusting me with the task of leading the ACM for the next exciting season.
"See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you.” ~ Isaiah 43:9
I’m not sure how many of you know that I have a long history with the ACM - previously known as the ACB. I was present at one of the first conferences in Kempton Park in the mid 1990’s where the early stages of our constitution was drafted, the process driven by Martin Frische of TWR and Rev. John Thomas who had recently been awarded a temporary broadcast license by the Independent Broadcasting Authority for Radio Fish Hoek, which later became CCFM. I later served on the Board from 2005 to 2009 and have some very fond memories of that season.
All my years with the ACM has shown me two consistent things:
1. The ACM doesn’t exist for itself or to promote itself - we are here to serve you the Members. In fact the ACM is YOU who make up the membership of this association. Our members are made up of radio stations, television channels, audio and video production houses, content providers, digital and internet marketing ministries….. and the diversity of our members continues to grow. We exist to support, encourage, inspire and educate each other. We can learn and grow so much through networking and engaging with each other. The potential is POWERFUL!
2. Media is the place to be! Never has it been more important for Christians to be involved in media. As the head of a radio station I am weekly blown away by the powerful tool that God has placed in our hands, how we can reach thousands with a message in an instant. And I know, because I was there, that the founders of the Association of Christian Broadcasters could not have foreseen the extent to which media would expand through the internet and become unbelievably influential in shaping culture around the world.
In order to be salt and light, and if we take our Great Commission calling seriously (which I’m sure we do) we need to rise up and embrace this powerful instrument with everything we have! We must resist complacency and embrace innovation and change!
“Go through, go through the gates; prepare the way for the people; build up, build up the highway; clear it of stones; lift up a signal over the peoples.” ~ Isaiah 62:10 ESV ~

Looking forward to walking with you on this journey!

God bless,

BRANDING

UPDATE YOUR BRAND - Have you ever heard of someone wanting to update their brand?
It seems to be a buzzword in today’s culture, however there is a misconception on what that actually means. To many people, updating their brand means changing their logo or re-doing their website. It really goes much deeper than that.
Michael Eisner once said, “a brand is a living entity – and it is enriched or undermined cumulatively over time, the product of a thousand small gestures.” Read more>  Infinity Concepts

INSPIRATION

DO YOU HAVE A LIFE MESSAGE? - Corporate-speak uses terms like “Mission Statement,” “Vision,” and “Values,” but when it comes to us, we don’t often think in terms of having a personal life message. In my work consulting with visionary leaders I deal with it all the time, but when it comes to normal, everyday people, not many understand the importance of having a message. But as some have said, “Your message is your life.” Read more> Phil Cooke
